Today’s Daily Create was to make a sound map and share it. This evening, I spent a lot of the time at the beach on campus to watch the Old Orchard Beach fireworks from a far. It was unbelievably quiet and mostly all you could hear were the waves. I decided to take a sound recording of this. For this, all I did was use the voice memos app on my phone. This is super easy, as all you need is hit the record button. From there I was able to airdrop it on my computer and save it download. I decided to use sound cloud to upload this clip. I have used Sound Cloud before, but I honestly have not used it since high school (meaning at least 3 years ago). This was actually way easier than I thought. All I had to was login with google and upload the file. From there, it gave a shareable link, which I posted above and on twitter. I liked this activity more than I thought I would. It was not that the technology part was challenging, but I found myself going through the day listening to everything much more than I normally would. By doing this, I was appreciating the sounds around me more than I normally would. Choosing the waves crashing was a no brainer for me, as this is my favorite sound to listen to.
